One of the key pillars of systems engineering is requirements management. Requirements drive the whole product development lifecycle. Manage them well and there is a much higher success rate across all industries of hitting market windows, meeting contractual commitments on time, complying with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and producing a product that meets user needs with fewer defects. This presentation focuses on practical aspects of raising requirements management to a higher level. It will illustrate accelerated methods of processing newly imported requirements information into an RM tool, improved means of avoiding propagating poorly written requirements (and the churn they cause) throughout the product development lifecycle, effective approaches to dealing with concurrent development streams such as with product families, an efficient manner of publishing documents using automation, and useful ways to monitor the process.
